Baba Nyonya Culture?
before i go this melacca research activity,
all i know about baba nyonya is their very nice kuih and spice food.
until i step in the heritage museum, and listen the guide explain the culture, the building, the custom and so on.
that is so unique and make me curious, let me feel want to find out what is the story behind in this few century.
the most effect my curiousity is the the "Nyonya".
what is the lifestyle of them in past?
what are their role in the family?
so, i go to watch the S'pore mandarin drama series called [The Little Nyonya]
although the story is unreal, but i also can feel from the movie, they are very conservative.
the Nyonya cant leave the house before marry, and also cant contact with the strange man.
the Nyonya must be good on cook Nyonya food, and sewing.
etc.
there are still many things is waiting for me to find out.

Title:
Folklore, Myth n Legend

[1] Princess Bamboo

-long time ago, there is a old man, his job is felling bamboo.
-in a morning, as usual, the old man go to the forest to continue his work.
-he found a bright bamboo root, and fell it down. there is a little girl inside.
-the old man is very happy bcoz he dun hv any child.
-he take the little girl back to the home n tell her wife.
-they treat the little girl as their child and name it ''princess bamboo''.
-from then on, the old man always found a lot of treasure in the bamboo. so, they become rich.
-the little girl grow up into a adult juz in 3 mths n she is very pretty.
-the king heard abt tat, and wan to marry princess bamboo, but she reject him.
-in the spring after 3 yrs, the princess always look at the moon alone and feel sad. the elderly couple is very worry abt her.
-whn nearly the mid-autumn festival, the elderly couple go to ask her.
-she said tat she is a princess come frm the moon, she must back to the moon in this mid-autumn festival, so she feel sad.
-the old man go to beg the king to help him safe the princess. the king promised.
-in the mid-autumn festival, the princess hide in the storeroom, and the house of them full protect by the palace guardian.
-whn the moon rise up, there is a big cloud landing frm the moon, there r a lot of pretty rabbit on the cloud.
-the clouds is bright, the guardian cant open their eyes.
-the princess thank to the elderly couples, and back to the moon.

[2] 3 colours fish

-this is a story frm Iran.
-hundred years ago, there is a happy family, they r father, mother and a son.
-one day, the mother call her son to catch the fish in the sea to earn more money.
-the boy catch a 3 colours fish in the sea, and the fish beg him to release it.
-the fish said tat if he release it, it will give him a magic scissors, the things it cut out by the scissors ll become true.
-the boy dun believe it, but he mercy the fish, so he release it, and he get the scissors.
-he try to use the scissors to cut a leaf into a palace, the palace become bigger gradually, and become a real palace.
-the boy run back into the house, and cut the leaf into the clothes for his parents.
-they lived a prosperous life in the palace.
-the parents prohibit their children play v the others poor villagers, and oso prohibit him go to the seaside, coz they scare tat the fish will take bek the magic scissors.
-the child tired of this boring life, and run out frm the palace to find the fish to get help. he wan to back to the simple life before.
-the fish told to the boy tat reaping the wealth without own ability will not bring happiness and joy, if the boy throw away the scissors to the sea in nxt day morning, all things will return to normal.
-the boy follow the steps, and all things also return to normal.

[3] rat and elephant

-this is a story from Turkey.
-long time ago, it got a distorting mirror, it will enlarge the things in front of the mirror, and it also will let the things extraordinary good.
-there is a rat always appresiate itself in front of the mirror, it think tat itself is the most strong in the world.
-it is always posturing, and it think itself got a big and strong power.
-the cousin of the rat remind it that be careful, the elephant dun like the person who tell lie. and tell it the elephant is the most strong animal in the world.
-the rat ignore tat, and said tat he wan to take revenge to the elephant.
-it meet the lizard, and told it that it wan to take revenge to the elephant. the lizard is teasing it.
-the rat is angry, it stamp the leg, wan to show it's power, the thunder oso happen at tis moment, the rat and the lizard oso thk wrong abt rat got the power. the rat continue find the elephant.
-it meet the ladybird, n ask it whether it was a elephant or not. the ladybird deny it, the rat told the ladybird oso it wan to take revenge to elephant. the ladybird oso teasing it.
-the rat is angry, and so the same things again, but dun hv the thunder in tat time, like lost it's power,the rat said tat, mayb the land too wet d.
-it meet the dog, and tell it wan to take revenge oso, the dog teasing it oso, and the dog feel it is funny, and wan to tease it. the dog is pretending it adore the rat, and told the rat tat it is juz the strongest animal in this world.
-finally, it meets the elephant, the elephant is huge, the rat jump onto to a big stone, the elephant juz c it. the rat not afraid abt it is huge, and try to use it's ''power'' to get revenge.
-the elephant use the nose to spray the water, and the rat hit.
-after that, the rat not dare to appreciate itself in front the mirror ald.
